It smells like a hospital in there. I almost get panic attacks. That's why I use my mail box only.

I get some hatin looks @ my PO when I bring in a half dozen books to mail out, and its always from other customers!  I'm usually in and out quicker than most of them, so I can't explain the dislike.  No matter.

My main PO has two clerks who I suspect think they are just being friendly and bantering with the customers, but I'm getting really tired with their comments about my work clothes (You fall in the ditch?), about my hair (A grown man with a ponytail... must have been one of those drugged out hippies in the 60's), if I don't shave (Trying to look like Don Johnson?), and other "digs" they've made.

I got really steamed the other day though.  One of them was outside when I pulled up in my truck (highway utility truck with warning lights, etc.) and then proceeded to chew me out when I got to the counter for, "Using a work truck like that to run personal errands... on the clock!"  Hello?  I own both the truck and the company, so I'll use it for whatever I see fit, thank you very much.  Grrr...

Bernhard - I think those comments cross the line.  It is a business....they should be respectful of their customers.  They don't know who  you are and should keep their comments to themselves.  I personally wouldn't put up with it - I would raise my eyebrow and respond with "Excuse Me" ????   If they chuckle I would let them know I didn't see any humor in their comments or make a snarky comment to let them know isn't being appreciated.

USPS offices are different from city to city or city to town - - when i lived in the city they wouldn't even acknowledge that you were human (unless friend or neighbor) and in the country they are so nice that I am taken aback sometimes because I don't expect the courtesy.

I tried to complain one time, only to find out that the postmaster wasn't in and the clerk who made the comment was in charge.  Since then I simply avoid the place like the plague and do all my postage electronically then drop the packages in the lobby deposit.  The only time I go to the counter is when I absolutely have to, such as with customs forms.
