I have a book on my shelf, which is a WL book. Quite a few wishers in the queue.   The first one timed out and we're now on the second one.

In looking over my bookshelf, I saw that my book was still on it, and I deleted it by accident (along with a few others that I really meant to delete).  It did not appear to be on WL hold (pink highlighting?) even though on my account page it shows up as held for the usual 48 hours.

What happens now if the second wisher times out?  Will my book disappear from the wish list roster, and will I be able to re-post it, if so?

Your book will continue to work it's way through the Wishlist FIFO line until someone accepts it. It will not appear on your bookshelf highlighted in pink -- it will have a grey circle with a "!" in it over to the extreme right side, indicating that it is on someone's wishlist.

It is a bit frustrating. I posted a WL book with 10 wishers, only to have it time out on the first 3 and I was able to mail it out to the 4th. FIFO takes a lot of patience!

You couldn't have deleted a book in a Wish List hold from your shelf. Its not possible because the checkbox wouldn't be there so there is no way to delete it.  Maybe you saw it on your shelf with an auto-request that was cancelled and then it went into a 48-hr hold and moved from your shelf with the (!) to the WL Hold tab.
