I just read a good-sized wad of past postings about the DIY mail date that gets printed on the mailing label when you choose to have PBS print your mailing label for you. The reason why I read all those postings is that I just printed out a whole bunch of labels for a whole bunch of books, and on one of them (just *one*--darn it!) I screwed up when setting the mail date. It's now set for Friday the 10th, when I have a hard-&-fast agreement w/ my mailees and w/ myself, that the books are all going in the mail on Monday the 6th. I'm afraid I didn't get a clear answer from the postings I read. I feel much more comfortable about being a few days *after* the mail date: I've even chatted with my postmistress about that. But before? By four days? I have no idea. --thanks in advance, and have a good Independence Day! Fiona |

Fiona, The best thing to do would be to take it in to your local post office & ask the post master. In cases where I have printed the wrong date, I asked a postal worker to print out a $.00 postage label with the correct date. I haven't had any problems with it. One time, a postal person wasn't sure if she could do it, but another postal clerk told her it was fine. |

Are you talking the printed postage? If so you can probably mail it early with no issue-it's mailing after the fact that there's a problem. Or do you mean the Will Mail by Date? You can mail before that date. I always choose the last mail by date just incase something comes up. |

USPS prefers things being mailed before the post mark rather than after so you should be OK on that end. Now, the PBS member is going to log a later date, but if you PM them about the mix up they should be OK with it. |
