I have been a member here for years but I just recently became active. I received a request with the RC of "I am unable to accept books that are currently located in a smoking evironment. Thanks."
My home is smoke free and the book has been here about a week. I did purchase it from a used book sale, so I can't guarentee where it was before. I don't smell any smoke and the book is in excellent condition. Should I send it or not? Or is there a way to contact the requestor? Thanks for your help....

well the request says currently located and your home is not. so by basis of the direct wording of the RC you are free and clear to send it. |

I would send it. You are in control of whether or not you refund the credit if they complain. The book is currently in a smoke-free environment and smells ok, so send it. :) If they complain, and ask you to refund the credit, say no. :) |

I echo what Deborah and L.G. said. People have started using that wording when they don't want a book that smells strongly of smoke, but they also don't want their request rejected because the sender doesn't know the book's history. You don't know the book's history, but it is not currently in a smoking environment (and it doesn't reek of smoke.) I say -- send it! :-) |
