I have a book that is in excellent condition, but has a torn flyleaf (inside page).  Approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of the flyleaf is torn off, but the book looks otherwise new--all text pages clean & intact, cover pristine.

Would you consider this book postable?  It's a very popular book with over 300 wishers.

Well, I don't know if this helps you much but I'd post it on the "unpostable WL" thread here:
http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=117610

That way you aren't risking someone giving you a RWAP in the end.

You can still ask for a credit for the book in that thread & if it has over 300 wishers, I'm sure someone will want it!

I would consider it postable -- that is not a text page, and many libraries completely remove that page when withdrawing books from circulation that later end up on PBS and they are considered postable. What the postability guidelines say is: No loose or missing text pages

The help docs say "No torn or chewed/gnawed pages" so I would say it is unpostable as the help docs do not specify text pages for that.

ETA: Here's the link and look under the heading "Pages" Book Condition Criteria for 'Swappability' at PBS

I think I'd just tear the rest of it out as it isn't essential to the book and no one would notice. Plus, like Sally said, ex-library books wouldn't have it either.

I've gotten a credit for unpostable highly-wished-for books by posting in the Book Bazaar.  Both times the books were snatched up.

See this for an example:  Bazaar Post

I would remove the page .... as it can be missing altogether and the book would still be postable.

Then I would post it.

Yeah, a lot of times those pages really aren't even noticed to be missing.... I don't think I would notice!

Those are probably your two best options Shelia.  List it in the Book Bazaar and ask for a credit or neatly remove the entire page and post it FIFO.

Thanks, I appreciate the opinions.  I knew about the Book Bazaar, and know someone will want it, but wanted to see about the FIFO option.  Thanks all!
