We used Spelling Time when it was free but haven't signed up since they started charging. Has it changed any? And do you need a separate account for each child?

I've never tried BigTime Math but assume it is very much like SpellingTime, since they are from the same company. Anyone have any opinions on BigTime Math?

Thanks!

I personally am not crazy about Math time.  Spell time I love. Net year I will only use spell time.

The site is the same. I only have one child, so I don't know if you have to have two seperate accounts. I would email them and ask. You might even ask if you can try it for a day or two and see if you like it. They have always been real nice to me.

You DO need a seperate account for each child, because it won't let you do the same lesson twice.

The words are NOT challenging, and when I used it (back when it was free), my daughter made no progress. Some of the pronunciations are way off, and the feature that allows you to add your own words isn't the best. It doesn't recognize / have sentences for / pronounce many simple (3rd grade) words.

We also used it when it was free, but I didn't purchase it.  I don't think it's worth the money.  DS said he didn't need it, either.

I never used the default lists.  I always used my own lists from my curriculum.  It got really annoying when so many words were not on their lists.  The site also goes very s-l-o-w.  I have a fast pc and ISP, too.

There's a new free, but not as "fancy" spelling site called Spelling City.  It's much easier to add your own lists.

www.spellingcity.com/

You can use/view other teacher's lists there, too.

I think there are plenty of free math game 'net sites so Math Time isn't necessary.  Spelling is different - not as many options there.

Thanks for the link JC.

I liked Spelling TIme when it was free but really can't see spending $40 for it.
