Gilbert is a mild-mannered author of some renown, although he has no outstanding works. He is trying to finish his latest novel when he is interviewed by the media. Subsequently he decides that he needs a holiday and books cruise intending to finish the novel enroute to (of all places) Ceylon. (To be politically correct this is now called Sri Lanka.) From embarkation each time he enters his cabin he seems to be eavesdropping on conversations. From where do they come? Why does no one else aboard hear them? What do they mean? What should he do about the situations to which he is an unwitting partner? Are the voices real or imaginary? (Am I sounding like Jules Verne yet? Oops, thats another question.) The author keeps the reader guessing as to the answer to these questions by switching the readers train of thought until, the end of course. But, has he really exposed the truth? Read this and decide for yourself!
