I tried to order books from a member who was doing a deal and when I went to her profile and clicked order this book the PBS system sent the order to another member with that book and that member has already printed so I can not cancel.  What did I do wrong?  I really didn't want to spend a full credit on the book because it's a children's book and really small which is why I went for the person with the deal.   I know I'm stuck in the order this time, but if someone could tell me what I did wrong for next time I'd really appreciate it :)

There may be another way of doing it, but I noticed that when I look at a book that's listed on my bookshelf, there's an option to "Mail it to a friend." Since you were making a private deal with someone, I would perhaps give them your contact information and have them send it to you that way.

Like I said, there's probably more than one way to handle that. Others with more experience might be able to tell you. But that's one little "feature" I noticed the other day. Not sure if there's a way to do it by username or not.

When you click "Order this Book," PBS takes the book from whoever listed it first and automatically spends your credit. But you know that now. smiley

If you order the book with the pop up book description open or from the book details page it goes to FIFO.  It's also possible that while you were looking at her shelf someone else was ordering the book and so yours went to FIFO.  The system doesn't know when you are ordering books for a deal.  It assumes you want a copy and so it goes to the next availalbe copy.  I wish they'd add a little box where you can check "keep ordering until request is accepted" or "do not reorder book if x sender cannot mail" or something like that.  There's a lot of books I won't pay a full credit for simply because there's hundreds of copies in the system already.  I know I'm not the only one.

IF you ask them to use the Mail To Friend option you'll just end up getting 2 copies unless you can convince the other person to cancel.  So I don't see how that would help. They probably wont since they printed the address already and would lost their place in FIFO.

If you are looking at someone's bookshelf and click the Order Book it orders it from them unless the description is open. If you go to the description page then it takes you away from that shelf.

One more thing: when I'm ordering on a deal like that: before I finalize it, I click the order more from member button to confirm that it didn't move me to FIFO but kept me on their shelf.

Did you click on 'order this book' while on her bookshelf?  Or did you accidentally go to the book page and order from there, which would send it to FIFO?  I did that once accidentally - thought I was ordering from a member offering a deal but must've ordered from the book page because it went to someone else.  Luckily in my case I pm'd the member when I placed the order and she pm'd back saying she never got it, and I was able to catch it before the other person printed.

Another possibility is that the book you wanted was already taken and the member canceled your order without informing you, so it rolled over to FIFO.  If that happened there should be a record of the canceled order in your transaction archive.  A situation like this is exactly why the red sticky "How to use this forum" Bazaar thread specifically states that the requestor should cancel (in bold, no less), but not everyone is aware of/follows the rules.

I did click on the order book from her bookshelf I thought, but I must not have unless the system has a glitch, because she doesn't have any record of an order from me.  I guess I'm just out the credit this time.  It just stinks because I only have a couple of credits right now and really need books for his reading lessons and he'll only read those books but to me they just aren't worth a full credit because of their small size.  Lesson learned I guess :(

Anytime I order books that I want from a specific member like you just did for a deal or whatever. After I order I always go directly to my Main account page, find the book that I just ordered, click the PM button and make sure it is coming from the right person. If not, cancel the request immediately and try it again. It is awfully easy to click to look at the description of the book and forget that you did it and end up in FIFO instead of the person's shelf. So, always double check yourself immediately so that the wrong sender doesn't have a chance to accept it. Happens to the most experienced of users, so don't feel too badly.
