I received an offer for a wish list book in the 17th, and I accepted, a day or so went by, and the sender accepted as well. And it's been sitting there ever since. It is marked as: to be mailed by 2/24/09. It hasn't been marked mailed, and hasn't timed out. Is this usual? It seems as if something should have happened by now.

it times out 2 days after the mail by date...sort of like a cushion for the sender.  It will proably time out some time tonight if they don't mark it mailed.

is it a new member?  perhaps they forgot to mark it mailed or didn't know that they needed to do so.

They joined in October, so not so new.  Hm, I hate to bug people with PMs, but I've had a rash of WL books timing out on me recently.  Thanks.

It doesn't time out at exactly the same minute as it was posted. I think it goes to the next hour change. So if it's posted at 12:15 then it times out at 1 or something like that.

It does happen sometimes. You could shoot them a PM and ask if they forgot to mark it mailed.  But PBS sends reminders to mark books mailed. I just had one get cancelled by the system this morning.  The email I was sent was something like "we have sent the other member emails reminding them about this book but they have not responded". So they are either ignoring the emails or don't have computer access for some reason.  In either case they probably wont' respond to a PM.

I looked at this persons shelf and WL and they hadn't had anything added in months. So I don't know if they thought they might start doing PBS again and so posted this book or what.  Maybe they had their shelf on an extended hold and the hold finally time out  and in the meantime I had WL this book.  But now they are no longer active with PBS. Who knows.

If you end up with 2 copies because the 1st person dind't mark it mailed then you don't have to give them a credit.  It says plainly in the rules and when you accept a book request that if you don't mark it mailed by xxx date then you may not receive a credit.

It's possible they already mailed the book and just forgot to mark it as mailed.  It's also possible the sender knows about the two day "cusion" and has procrastinated mailing the book until today.  I really try to be good about getting books in the mail on time, but I have to admit to using that cushion on occasion just because life got busier than expected.  Hopefully you'll see the book marked as on it's way in the next few hours!
