I just recently discovered that E.C.Sheedy is a GREAT author,I'm now trying to retrieve all of her novels,She is great!
Some Secrets Everyone knows that Mary Weaver is a saint. All her life shes been the guiding force behind Mayday House, a refuge for women in need. But on this dark night, she is haunted by memories from another time. Dark memories. Lies. Betrayals. Murder. Evil. She will not die without confessing her sins, without telling the truth. She will make three last phone calls, and if she awakens sleeping dragons, so be it
Are Worth Killing For Gus Hammonds job is simple. Now that old lady Weaver is dead, he is to go to Erinville, Washington, and shut down her dilapidated old mission. But he hadnt counted on Keeley Farrellhe hadnt counted on wanting her. Born and raised at Mayday House, Keeley has come back to continue Marys work and discover truths about her own lifetruths that lie buried somewhere in the jumble of files deep inside Mayday House
Again And Again Terrible things have happened at Mayday House. Sins that some want buried foreversins that someone would kill to hide. Now, Gus has a new reason to get Keeley free of Mayday House. For a dying womans last act has ignited a deadly fuse, one that leads back to this very house and Keeley herselfa woman he cant lose.
This was only the second book I've read by E.C. Sheedy and I was very impressed. I couldn't put the book down. There were a lot of characters to keep up with. Even though Keeley and Gus were the focus of the story, there were so many other characters that caught my interest. Sheedy spent a lot of time on her side character as well so I ended up feeling like this story was about a whole group of cool people.
There weren't any surprises what everyone's motives were but somehow Sheedy keeps the story good. This was written after "Killing Bliss," but the events probably happened before or right at the same time line as "Killing Bliss"
The back cover description was a bit convoluted. Basically Mary Weaver ran a house for unwed and/or abused women. In her death bed, she decided to confess her sins to three parties she had wronged in the past. Keely, Mary's goddaughter, returned only to have to deal with the aftermath of Mary's confessions. Of course there were parties not happy with Mary's confessions and Keely's life might be in danger.
Well worth the read if you enjoy suspense mystery with a bit of sexy romance thrown in.
First book I have read by Sheedy..and really liked it.
