In reading reviews of this book on several sites you come across phrasings such as, "Fantastic world cannot overcome awful characterizations". Unfortunately, over all, that is correct. However, not entirely. Droplet, the alien world Titan encounters, is definitely original and is explored in story more than any water world has ever been before. I really liked and enjoyed reading about the provocative science which underlies this book; based on the acknowledgments in the back of the book, it seems the author did his homework.

Characterizations are not what you will read this book for ... with the exception of the the character Tovuk. The Riker and Troi characters suffered from this story I'm afraid.

Ending thought to this review ... the plot feels dragged out far too long for the conclusion that Bennett brings to you.

I gave the book a high number of stars simply because the science in the science fiction book was wonderful.
