I'm trying to order some books and have them mailed directly to my mom and PBS says it can't verify the address with the post office. I've actually run into this problem before, but the address * is* correct - I send her mail frequently. Any ideas about what to do? I don't want to have to remail them to her.... Hi,
You will need to go to www.USPS.com and choose the button to search for a zip code and enter the address as you have it and then they will return the address as they want it. :)
Been there, done that many times. :)

First, the Post Office's inability to verify an address doesn't mean it won't get delivered. You can use an address without verification (as we all do when we hand address a letter). Also, it isn't really "the Post Office" as much as it is "the USPS computer system". We all know about computers - they don't have brains! Sometimes it is the tiniest thing that makes an address fail. Tweak little things and see if it gets accepted; I use Google Maps for that, but I'm guessing you know your own mom's info. If she's in an area that relies on another town's PO, that can often be an issue; call HER local Post Office for a correction and use what they give you. |

The problem is, I couldn't process the order without it accepting the address. But I tried again and it works now - maybe it was a typo. |

Sometimes if you wait a bit and try again, it corrects itself. |
