I've had a couple of embarrassing moments recently:  I wrote to the Librarian to report something on the website that wasn't going according to plan, only to be told (patiently) that I had been mistaken--that if I'd read the Help docs more carefully, I would have figured that out. Or if the Help didn't help, the kindly Librarian suggested I go to the Forum(s).

So...once again something looks screwy to me, and I can't figure out what's going on, so I'm coming here with the conundrum. <grin>

This is what happened:

Jan. 13      I requested a book

Jan. 15      Poster replied to my request, said she would mail book to me. Didn't print label, though.

Jan. 16       Poster cancelled transaction. A bit later, I wrote to her. She says she can't find the book.

Jan. 19      I noticed that the book is still listed under "Books I've Requested" in My Account-Main. Transactions for the book in "My Account" are listed as:

           Books I've Requested

Requested On: 1/16/09 12:42 PM ET
Printed On: 1/18/2009 10:55 AM ET
           Will Mail by: 1/20/2009 11:00 P
,,\\\c

Jan.19      I go over to the Transaction Archive, and find the following:

            Transaction Archive

Request Date: 1/13/2009 8:52 AM ET
            Date Cancele

d: 1/16/2009 12:42 PM ET

Those last two dates are correct.

tspi;r I could PM the rest ... so wja

Is this a case of when the first person canceled, it went on to to the next person who had the book and automatically requested it for you?

I'm guessing that the book you ordered went automatically to the next person when the first person cancelled and it just so happened that the second person accepted right away.

Go to your transaction archive and note the name of the person who was originally supposed to send the book (it's over on the right).  Now go to your main account page and click on the "PM" button by the current transaction.  If the name that pops up is different than the one in your transaction archive, than the above posters are correct - your book is being sent by a different member.

When a sender cancels or lets a request time out the system automatically reorders the book for you if it's posted by another member.

Fiona,

You can also go to your "My Account " tab.  Click on "Credit Registry" and look for the title of the book.

You will likely find it listed with a marking that the request was passed on........right above it will be the same book with a marking that it was cancelled.

And Fiona, please don't worry...we all screw up sometimes and just have to be embarrased for a bit and then we move on.  You will get it.  Coming and asking for help is a GREAT way to learn...Don't forget you can always PM a Tour Guide!  :)  We LOVE helping people! :)
