I think I want to just leave the site and cancel my membership.  I haven't received a book on my wishlist for over a year now, and had already become very disengaged with the site, to include the message boards (I used to check them almost daily.).  I tried to order a new book from PBS to use up my $3.48 in PBS money, but it won't let me do a partial payment.  How can I use up the money without doing trades?  There seems to be no way to do that or to cash it out.  PBS needs to do a one-time cash-out ability for people who want to leave and not pay the yearly fee.  A-la-carte membership is even less attractive to me for various reasons.  Any ideas?

Try ordering a $0.00+1 credit book and use your PBS money to cover the shipping and transaction fee?  I have no other ideas.

There has always been a 'no-refund' policy for PBS money.  That's not new, but accounts are not going to close unless the member requests it.  So it won't cost anything to stay 'a la carte'.  IF you place an order as an a la carte member, then you will pay a 49¢ fee.  With $3.48, you could make 7 requests and just have a few cents left.... (provided you have the credits, of course)

You could also choose to donate the PBS money to the Schools Charity program located under the Community tab.

What about adding just enough money to your PBS account when added to the $3.48 in your account will equal the cost of the new book you want to order?  If the book costs $7.48 (including postage) you'd need to add $4.00 to your account.  Then purchase the book with PBS money.  You'll pay the 50¢ transaction fee when purchasing the additional money, but then since you're using PBS money to purchase the book you won't be charged the transaction fee on the book purchase.

How about using the money for printing postage?

You could figure out how many a la cart transactions your PBS money will cover and leave that many books on you wish list.
