It happens. Especially with new members when they don't understand things like the wish list and end up with a lot of books requested right away.  The good news is there is hope they will repost it soon when they can afford to ship it :)

I'm hoping so.....I'm assuming I'll be put at the top of the list again when this happens.

Personally I have not had this happen, but I know I had a similar problem when I first started here.  I posted 7 books right away and 4 of them were snapped up from WL in a few hours.  I panicked a little bit about paying for that much postage immediately, but I managed and haven't had the same rush of requests in such a short span since.  Hopefully you will get a copy soon!

If you were offered a Wish List book, as long as the other member cancelled the order, you will be put back into your place in the line.

If YOU cancelled a Wish List order after you got a PM, then you lost your place in line. (You could try to contact PBS and plead ignorance as to how the system works and ask to be put back in line).

I've never had it happen before, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a new member who got overwhelmed.

On the other hand, I've gotten some weird reasons for cancelling WL orders.  So sometimes I think they're just a random excuse.

If  the member can't ship right now, they should put their Bookshelf on hold.  That would prevent disappointment for the requestor.  It is very frustrating to really want a book that comes up or find one , only to be denied in a PM or Email via PBS.

If the person was a new member, they may not be familiar with PBS to know how things work, Lori. I remember that when I joined, I was surprised that the books were requested immediately (I had read what PBS was about but didn't read in depth enough to read how the WL worked.) I remember wanting to re-read the book and wanting to remove it from my bookshelf but couldn't. Happily, I only got 2 or 3 requests, if I've gotten more than that (and that happens often), I might have been overwhelmed.

Tis the Christmas season and a lot of people need to purchase Santa Claus toys for their kiddoes.  They do need to put their shelf on hold if they find they are short of cash.
