I am using a bunch of my own PBS credits to order books for a local charity's independent lending library / bookmobile program. It just occured to me that there might be other PBS members who have an excess of credits and/or want to help out such a project? I'm thinking this would also be good for PBS itself because when the charity publicizes the program, it may draw in new members or some media attention?
Is it even possible to give PBS credits to others? (I tried the HELP pages to look for the "Give Credit" button, but I could not find the darn button on anyone's profile anywhere) And if a PBS account is createdt for this charity, and then post a link for others to easily share PBS credits, can this be done? Or question #2: can we set up a Wish List under the charity name (the way amazon.com does it) and have an easy link other PBS members can use to buy those books for the charity?
Thanks for any help you can give! |

PBS has two official charitable projects see http://www.paperbackswap.com/donations/index.php (School Donations & Military Donations). I would think anything like this would need approval from TPTB as soliciting credits or setting up anything other than an individual account is contrary to the TOU. Giving credits to other members is easy--the button is on the member profile, kind of in the center, the rightmost button. Last Edited on: 7/24/10 7:11 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Accounts can only be held by individuals so an account in the charities name would not be possible. Many members do use their own accounts to get books for charities, but actively seeking donations for any charities would violate the no soliciting policies of the site. So you could use your own account to do this, but you can't really go around asking other members to give you credits for it. |

Yes, you can gift credits to another member---just click on their blue title and above their name etc. there is a note to "give credits" and you can pick out however many you want to "gift" to another member. I just sent off 2 to this member to use as she wishes. |
