Today's my 4-year anniversary of being a member here at PBS! It's not really a topic for "Questions about PBS" and I don't "do" the CMT forum anymore, so I thought I'd share my happieness with the folks in my favorite genre forum. :)

It's been a wonderful 4 years!  1,348 books mailed, 1,332 books received and lots and lots of good reading done and anticipated!

When I joined up, there were only like 64,000 books available here! And I still found plenty to order--I went nuts like a kid in a candy store! I probably bought 50 credits in my first few months until my requests caught up to my books ordered. Nowadays, my wishlist does about 90% of the ordering for me, and I've learned "some" restraint. Instead of having 500 books I've read that I need to trade off, I have a 600-book TBR. Oy!

Anyway, it's been a great ride so far, most of the books I get are in great shape, and have had very few RWAPs or lost books and only encountered a couple of nasty, rude folks. I feel blessed by the Book Gods! And am especially blessed to have met a lot of great people here, too.

Vive la PBS! Long may it run!

We love you over here at Mystery/Thriller, Cheryl!  Congrats on the 4 year mark!  I wonder how high my tbr will be if I stay for that long?!

Thanks, folks! It's been a great run so far. Carol, you will be buried under books! LOL I am really needing a couple more bookshelves, the problem being I don't have anywhere to put them! I really need to do a "weed out weekend" where I select a couple dozen books that have been on my bookshelf for more than a couple years and read a couple chapters to see if I'm still interested...and if not, post 'em back to PBS. The problem is, I've gotten a lot better at knowing what I will like so rarely do I actualy weed any books out! LOL

Congratulations, Cheryl! I have been wondering this for a while. In what year did PBS start? What is the history behind it, meaning how did it get started?

I believe it was in 2004, but I'm not sure. Somewhere on the site I think there is a history of how it all got going, but not sure just where that is. Things were in full swing by the time I joined, although there have been many changes since then!

Congrats Cheryl, 4 years and your TBR is only 600 (give or take) ? I'm impressed. 1,348 books mailed, wow, does your post office have a brick or something named in your honour? *grin*

jubead, I'm considered an old timer everywhere--well, except at the nursing home, maybe. LOL

Kathleen, I read fast so I do manage to make inroads into the TBR once in awhile, but I know I will never get ahead. I keep saying I'm stockpiling books for my retirement when I know I will be poorer than I am now, but at the rate I'm going I will need a mansion to house them all by then. LOL My mailman says I am his job security. :-p

Congratulations Cheryl!

600 books!  Now, I only have about 40 books in my TBR pile and it looks like a heap on my bedroom floor.  I can't imagine what 600 looks like.  An aisle in a library comes to mind.

Congratulations Cheryl!

Ive been a member of PBS for almost 2 years, and I love it!  I tell my friends and family about it, and they love it too!

My tbr stack has certainly grown in the past year and a half, plus I have discovered that I LOVE cozy mysteries!

Cheryl, congrats!  Next month will be my one year and Mt TBR is at a tad over 700 - down by 100 since I started.  I went craxy when I found Amazon.

Congrats!  I missed my own one-year mark a few days ago.  Oh, well.  It's been fun.  I think I have just under 600 books on my TBR pile.

Best wishes, Cheryl. Here's to many more years here. I'm coming up on my first anniversary and I never thought I could get into a swap type of site. I think the forums is what makes PBS so enjoyable - the bonding with fellow readers who share the same likes (and even dislikes) is great, getting the books is just an added bonus.
