Hi all,

I'm a newbie and I'm trying not to go against the flow so I thought I would ask a question first.

I mailed a book to a member.  Now I have read the sequel to the book.  I posted it and it is not on anybodies wish list.  Is it okay to PM the member that got the first book and let them know I have the second?  Or is that a no-no?

Thanks for the advice.

I would say go for it.  Just send the PM once and maybe offer a deal like I'll send this book with another book from shelf type thing.  Sometimes people have done that with me and I think it is fantastic!

when I have one book and someone comes up with the sequel I think it is great for them to let me know...if I don't have it I love to not have to look for it and it makes you (the sender) really special in my eyes for you to remember me and go to the trouble to PM me....(that would be how I would feel if I was the recipient of your kindness....

I've had people PM me with similar items...I think it's great, very thoughtful and very welcome!

I think its a great idea.  There are some books that you won't know a sequel exists, until you get to the end and are hanging off a cliff - Like the Sara Donati series.

I think it's alright, as long as you're not pushing a sale, just an "fyi" PM.  So they know it exists and it's on your shelf and thanks for the last order type of thing.  I would NOT PM more than once tho.

I think it's a great idea. I've had several people I've ordered from PM me that they had the other books from a series on their shelf.  Sometimes I order from them, or if I have the sequels, not. But I always appreciate the gesture and tell them so.

I've sent PM's to people telling them that I just posted a particular book. They've always been well-received.

Now, I wouldn't send messages to everyone and his dog... but the occasional PM would be just fine!

a FYI pm would be nice but it is possible they already have that book.  sometimes I'll get a book that is not the first in a series or have all but one book and won't need the others.

I would not be uncomfortable if  I received such a PM. I would actually appreciate it because sometimes I may not realize there is a sequel or I forgot to put it on my WL.
