Ordered a WL book for my daughter at college so used 'alternate mailing address' function. Was worried about her not reporting to me that book was received so I could mark it so, but It's gone only one state east since being mailed on 7 FEB.

the scans make it look like it was mailed on the 19th. |

I'm in OH and haven't noticed any slow down. The scans do look like the mailing label was printed on the 7th, but that the book wasn't actually mailed until the 19th. |

I have to agree with Sandy. It looks like the label was printed and then it didn't make it to the PO until almost 2 weeks later. You might have your DD double check the mailing date when she receives the book. Pat |

Since it looks like printable postage was used, you have no way of knowing when the book was actually mailed. I've mailed books before on the date I said and it wasn't scanned until a long time later. I guess it was just sitting at the post office or in the blue box. I know in my area with the recent winter storm, there have been a lot of delays as the mail trucks weren't able to travel one day so the first class truck didn't make it to my branch at all. |

There's a good chance the book was mailed on the 19th. Acceptance scans are different than enroute scans. Here's a recent example of a book I mailed MM at the local USPS APC...notice there is no acceptance scan, but the first enroute scan is noted on the day I actually mailed:
Acceptance usually means the book received counter postage or was otherwise passed over the counter. This might be off a day, but IMO unlikely to have an error margin of more than 24 hours. I'd definately the ask DD to check the label for shipping information on this one. Also to consider, Warrendale is a black hole of missing packages OTOH, can you RWAP a PBS book mailed to an alternate address? ETA - Severe weather could be a factor this time of year, but if the sender couldn't get out to mail they should have notified you (per PBS guidelines). Thanks, everyone.........I thought the listing Electronic Shipping Info Received meant it had been accepted at the counter. So yeah, they mailed late without notifying me. And yes, books sent elsewhere can be "RWAP"......have had books I had mailed directly to my daughters go the 'long route' before and show up weeks later than they should have. |

I just received a book that was mailed from CA the beginning of the month (I live in Western MA), and It wandered around CA for a couple days, then no scan between San Diego and Russell --2 weeks later. So, THAT sender mailed when she said. And yes, the storms up here are making everything miserable. The weather could definitely be a factor. That being said, HOWEVER... like the other posters commented, YOUR book appears to have been mailed very late. Have your daughter save the packaging and check the mailing date. When "Electronic Shipping inf Rec'd" shows up, that means there should be a date printed right on the mailing lable. That will tell you when it was printed. postage stamps en route may tell you the rest. |
