This is a first for me. I ordered three books from one individual. She had wrapped the books individually and then put them in a plain plastic bag (like a FedEx or UPS pak). The postman laid it on a chair by the front door and when I picked it up the entire top of the package had been cut open!!! It wasn't torn, so don't think it was an accident. I know they have the right to inspect media mail, but don't they have some obligation to at least re-tape it...even minimally? The books were all fine, but I about had a heart attack when I first saw it. Anyone else had this experience? |

Was it raining? maybe the postman put it in the bag & not the sender. |

I asked the question of one of the postal employees - If they open a media mail package, how do they repackage it? and was told that they'd repackage it as close to the way they found it before they opened it as possible. He said in a lot of cases you wouldn't even know that it had been opened. By the way, any postal employee can open media mail for inspection. Pat |
