Convicted in Paris in 1931 for a murder he didn't commit, Charriere (Papillion) was sentenced to life imprisonment in the penal colony of French Guiana. One thought obsessed him: escape. This is the story of a magnificent rebel who would live free . . .or not at all. An outstanding book. I recommend you read it.
