If you are considering becoming a paralegal, or are simply interested in what people in law offices really do, this book will give you the basics. (Trust me, it's not like those television law dramas where the place is crawling with lawyers who seem to do absolutely nothing, and yet miraculously put together a huge case in a week or less with no support staff.) This book is a basic paralegal school text, and it's a much cheaper alternative than one of those learn-at-home courses to see if you might actually find this type of work interesting. The salary listings in the book are very out of date, and the case law has probably changed somewhat, but this book will give you some idea of what paralegals do, and do not do (in fact are precluded by law from doing).
