My sister loved this book, and suggested it to me. It started out good, but ended with too much exhorting the reader to support the US involvement in WWII - felt more like a propaganda piece than a historical non-fiction book at times.

After reading it, I googled both the book and the author, and checked Wikipedia. All linked to a movie based on this book, but it was not clear to me that this is a true story as the book claims. Interestingly, the book was published in 1943 (at least, the copy I read) while the story takes place from June 13. 1940 until sometime after Pearl Harbor was bombed, and from what I've read about history, paper was rationed in the US during WWII.

I hope there really were an Etta Shiber, Father Christian, Kitty, and the heroes described in the book.
