Hi,

Someone on PBS accepted my request and said they would mail the book by 1/22. It still has not been marked as sent.   If a problem has come up, I do not mind.  I was just wondering if the system will automatically cancel the request so I can get my credit back?  Is there anything I need to do?

Thank you,

Sherry

Yeah it will cancel sometime today. They have two days after the day they said they would mail to actually mail the book.

it is possible that they mailed it but forgot to mark it mailed, you could PM and ask them and let them know if they have mailed it but don't mark it they won't get the credit

If there is another book in the system PBS will pass the request on to someone else. So I could check and see if that happens.  I would also PM the 1st person and ask if they mailed it and forgot to mark it mailed. So you can cancel the 2nd request.  If they don't respond or the 2nd person mails it to quick and you can't cancel: you do NOT have to give the 1st person a credit if you end up with 2 books.  You are only required to give a credit to the one who marked it mailed.  But I would at least try to prevent that from happening.

I just had the same thing happen to me.  The book timed out after I PM the person.  She said she would mail it.  Then the system timed her out and another request was generated.  Then she PM'd me and said "I would appreciate it if you could do what you can to get me a credit.  I mailed the book but forgot to let you know.  THE BOOK IS IN THE MAIL".   No apology for being late, no thanks for your cooperation.  She really annoyed me, but - I was able to cancel the new request and agreed to issue her the credit once I receive it.

I will not be ordering from her again - that's for sure.  She took the longest time the system allowed to first respond to the request, then let the "book mailed" option time out.

I just sent a reminder to someone this morning because both books from her are about the cancel. It's still showing as "Accepted-Printed" and is due to time out today.

I had one go until the day after, they marked it sent the day after the deadline and still no book. I don't believe it was mailed then either. Such a pain.

If I have a book request that is about to time out, I often will PM the sender and ask if everything is ok and give them an out.  I know that life happens and things get in the way of sending out books.  I've always gotten a very pleasant reponse from the sender and have ended up eventually getting the book.
