so good. i was surprised, actually at how good this book was. you're drawn in to the character's lives, and you find yourself cheering people on and feeling so sad for others. it's a great story.

I knew nothing about this author, except that she is extremely popular in the UK, and I picked this book up on a whim and I am so glad I did! Wonderful storytelling, with involving, realistic characters -- very much in the Maeve Binchy mode. I enjoyed this book so much that I was moved to request every book by this author that I could find on PBS and can't wait to read them. A wonderful new author for me and a whole stack of her books to wade, and wallow, through. If you haven't tried Cathy Kelly before, I recommend that you give one of her books a try, and this is a good one to start with!

I picked this book up at the FOL store on a total fluke - figured it would make a good summer read. Keep in mind that I'm more of a mystery & thriller type of gal. I'm so glad I did. I couldn't put the book down once I began it.

The story centers around 4 women of various ages that live/have lived on the same street. Each women has a secret that gets revealed as the book progresses. The characters and situations flow effortlessly.
