Just a question....... just got my second book in a week that had postage paid via paypal  with ebay shipping services and neither shows any postage amount so I can't enter it in the page with the "book received" questions.  Also, though both clearly say "media mail" they arrived from their destinations over 1000 miles away in just 3-4 days.

I don't know what your question is but on Paypal the default is set to not print the amount of postage.

You can just skip that box on the page and submit the rest of the info.  I sometimes fill out the date it was shipped  but mostly I skip over all of that.  I almost never fill out the postage amount because I've thrown the wrapper away by the time I'm marking it received.

I occasionally use paypal for postage - rarely on single books here though. As another poster said, when you print a paypal lable this way the sender can shoose to display, or not display the postage cost. If you are interested, for media mail the charge is the same as at the PO - $2.53 for up to 1lb  etc. With paypal, e-DC is compulsory, and the charge is 20c for media mail packages (free for first class). thc cost for first class packages is less than over the counter at the PO (and free dc also).

As for why the bosk came so quickly, thats the luck of media mail, but i am under the impression  that packages with all the electronic "bells & whistles" may be processed more quickly than hand written labels.

This option is hard to find via paypal.com, the direct link is http://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-now

For a long time PBS had a survey asking if the label was handwritten or printed.  I think this was to compare the mailing times.  I just assumed that books with bar code labels are sorted fast by the machines.

I've only been using PayPal for postage on my swap books as they require tracking (formerly called DC), and it's $.20 through PayPal or $.90 at the post office.  I have to save everywhere I can.  I had no idea first class shipping was cheaper through PayPal.  I guess I need to ship those through PayPal too.  PayPal postage always prints out with ebay on the label, even though you aren't necessarily having anything to do with ebay.  I always make my postage amount visible, but you do have to manually change it to show.

I should point out that PBS labels clearly have Paperback Swap printed on them.  With the history of mail fraud thanks to some eBay shipper in Wisconsin who illegally used media rate labels for non media, I wonder if a Paypal label has a higher chance of inspection?
