I have been on this sight for well over a year. I love it. I keep running across members that have a gazillion medals or whatnot. I understand how you get all the ones where you give credits for schools, military, or for the club and even the printable postage one. How do people become tour guides, or game moderators, or book data correctors? I am very curious on how this works from the people that have done it/or doing it. |

I've been a Tour Guide and a Games Moderator. For tour guide duties, I just sent a pm to a tour guide leader and said I was interested in being one, and I took a quiz. For Games Moderator, you have to be experienced in the games and how they are played, then you let a current moderator know that you'd like to be on the waiting list. You have to have a lot of games experience, and there aren't that many openings for moderator. I've never volunteered for BI/BD work, but I imagine that it's similar - just let one of them know you're interested. Volunteering is a great way to help support the site! |

Thank you. I thought about trying for tour guide. I already spend so much on site anyways. I've only been in games for a little over two months, so i'll settle on hosting games eventually lol. I was just curious how it was all done. |

Or you could write something for the blog. |

Jamie, there are all sorts of volunteer options available here on PBS -- it helps keep the costs down. I'm on several of the teams you mentioned, and I'll send you a PM. |

Contact one of the group leaders for the group you are interested and they will be more than happy to give you an idea of what the group members do and how to join them. There is also a great series of articles about the different volunteer groups on the PBS Blog -- including an article I wrote about volunteering for the Data and Image groups. See Blog articles here Volunteers (and don't forget to scroll down the page to look at all the different articles!) or go to Blog page, then click on Volunteers link on the right side. Feel free to contact me (or Anna B. (classicana) for Data (or Image) volunteering info, and Diane G. (icesk8tr) for Tour Guide info.
