I recently finished an outstanding biography about Pearl S. Buck titled Pearl Buck in China: Journey to The Good Earth by Hilary Spurling.  She is best known for her award winning book The Good Earth; however, she wrote many other books as well. Wow, I couldn't believe what a courageous woman she was to have lived through those terribly mad times in China. If you've enjoyed her books, I think you'll appreciate the insights you'll gain coming to know her as she grew up.

IFyou enjoyed the Pearl Bucks books, I would highly recomend books by Beryl Markem and my all time fav Osa& Martin Johnson she was from Chanute Ks my home town and was the first to go to Borneo and meet real head hunters and to meet many tribes in Africa,These were incredebly brave adventurous women. Sisters of the Hunt is Good.   Splendid Outcast is great also . You would most probably have to get the Osa &martin Johnson Books on Amamzon{ but they are well worth it{ I Married to Adventure] would be the best} the Beryl Markem  books are on here.I got hooked on Osa Johnson as a kid every Saturday at the museum they would have some of the first moving pictures of the south Pacific and Africa, She was one tough cookie but always looked wonderful.Sorry that I rambled it;s just that so many people have never heard of them. And if you like adventure books the type from long ago they cant be beat.

I bought this book to read in conjunction with The Good Earth (for a local book club). I'm pleased to see you posting good remarks about it.
