Been a while since I read this one, but it was my favorite John Grisham book. The movie was ok, but in my opinion it was a somewhat feeble attempt at portraying the book. There are some complexities (storylines, character development) in the novel that just didn't translate into the movie. Even if you've seen the movie, you should read this one - the story will make more sense!

Two Supreme COurt Justices are killed, and a young law student at Tulane in New Orleans comes up with a theory. Once the theory is shown to the FBI & CIA, it manages to get out to others, and people start dying. Who is the one who killed the justices, and why? And why chase the student? ANd how did the word of the brief, based in the Pelican State, get out to the killer?

A very intriguing story, involved, complex, and a welcome reads compared to the other books I've been reading. If you are ready to concentrate on a story, try this one. If you want light fun reading, please move elsewhere. Enjoy!

Darby Shaw is a clever student who attends Tulane Law School. Her boyfriend is a Law Professor named Thomas. Shaw decides to find out why two US Supreme Court justices were murdered on the same day. She finds out that both Justices shared a love for protecting the environment. Then Shaw sets out to find who would benefit the most from the two deaths. She finds an industrialist who has big development plans. Then Shaw writes the Pelican Brief which is circulated by the FBI who do not put much stock in it. The brief going public tells the bad guys who Shaw is. A car bomb meant for Shaw takes out her boyfriend Thomas. The suspense mounts as Shaw is helped by Washington Post reporter Gray Grantham.
