I had a friend who recommended Penny Vincenzi novels.  Having credits to burn, i got a bunch of them over the last year or so

I am almost done with "The Best of Times" and have just plained stopped caring about what happens to the people in this book!

They're either sappy doormats or annoying super-aggressive types.  

Judging by the shear size of her books, I'm afraid I'm in for more trudging through predictable stories and wimpy, annoying characters. 

Did I just pick the wrong novel to start with?  Are her other novels better?

Hi, Mary.   The only Penny Vincenzi book I ever read was "No  Angel" which is the first book in a trilogy (The Lytton Family Trilogy). 

I have to admit, I found the heroine interestingly written, but the other characters, meh.   as for the plot, it was like one big long soap opera.   It just didn't impress me enough to read the other books.
