Sequel to Raymond Chandler's "The Big Sleep" by the creator of Spenser.

Quite nice book. Easy to read even though it is hardback. The pages are fine to turn. I do like the old mystery novels and the chit-chat and I think the author captured the essence of Chandler.

This is Robert Parker's sequel to Raymond Chandler's "The Big Sleep". Feature's Chandler's Philip Marlowe character . After the death of General Guy Sternwood, his daughter Vivian sends her psychotic sister, Carmen, to a sanatorium. Carmen's sudden disappearance from the hospital leads Vivian to turn in desperation to Eddie Mars, a shady underworld club owner. Concerned for what is happening to the family, the Sternwoods' butler asks Marlowe to find Carmen and fend off Eddie Mars once again.

Robert Parker takes on the task of writing a sequel to Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep and succeeds admirably. I enjoyed reading this book and did it at one sitting (actually one lying, since I was in bed at the time). I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys "hard-boiled" sleuth novels.

I was excited to find this book as he wrote this book that wouldn't have been written except for him. It was another favorite of mine.

Parker does a "swell" job with this sequel to Chandler's The Big Sleep. His stark style pays homage to Chandler as he takes Marlowe through the dames and hoods to solve the mystery. Wonderful job, very enjoyable read (and I admit to not being a big fan of the genre).
