This was a well written book about the other side of college life - the families and professors who are in the small town for more than four years. It has great characterizations and some wryly funny moments, but I wasn't sure what was responsible for Flora finally being ready to move on from her deceased father's home. It sort of felt like the author reached the end of the academic year, so the book was done, so Flora was ready to go. A sad read overall, especially because I'm not sure what brought about Flora's ability to move on.
I guess this is what happens (actually I know it is) when you grown up away from one parent-you don't know their life after you were no longer a daily part of it. A tad confusing towards the end for me, but an interesting insight into the life of a liberal arts college.
