NOT the best one in the series.
If I had read the book and not already had known it was by this author, I would never have guessed.

If this was the first book that I had read in the series, I never would have bought another book in the series.

All throughout, the characters felt more like caricatures.

The heroine takes over 250 pages longer to figure things out than we do. By the time they come, the "twists" are expected, over done and trite to the point of boring.
Skip this one book and enjoy the earlier ones in the series.

Rarely do I get within the final pages of a book and give up on it, but that's what happened with this one. I just couldn't continue with the poor writing and convoluted plot twists. I had read the previous ones in this series, so I can only guess that the author is now trying to rush new ones into print without really thinking through the story idea. And where are her editors? With so many other really well-written mystery series out there, no need to continue with this one.

ohhhhh, has to be one of the most poorly written books I have ever read......it's like a bad soap opera. In some parts, the conversations could have been written by a 4th grader.
A house party to celebrate the owner's 50th birthday turns into a murder mystery ala Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None". Seems like author created a shallow character based upon many stereotypes.........the loving foreign lesbian, the secret agent boyfriend, the handsome bulked up tough guy every woman drools over, the loyal servants, the "never grew up" middle-aged computer wizard, and more.

Then they throw in the arrival of an orphaned baby whose guardians are the young lesbian couple; not one but 2 young adults "outing" who their parents are; a "fiction" manuscript that turns out to be true with just the names changed.

I really expected more since the series had been recommended to me by members here.

Brooklyn is invited to a week long 50ith birthday party. The party is being hosted by Grace Crawford an eccentric, wealthy aunt of Brooklyn's neighbor Suzie. The party is being held in Grace's home in Lake Tahoe. Her home is a mansion that is filled with moving walls, ceilings, trap doors, and sliding panels. The guest list naturally includes a couple of nasty people and an obnoxious lawyer. When the lights come on after a seance, to find a guest dead, it is quicky determined that the victim my not have been the true target. Soon the weather changes, and our guests are now snowbound with a killer. I enjoyed this addition to the series...maybe because I liked the quirky , help can't get to you setting.....

Another challenge for Brooklyn finds success as she goes to celebrate a birthday and finds mystery and books in a unique venue.
