address label (those little ones you buy from Current) as a mailing label? This has nothing to do with any PBS mailing, but would help an elderly friend who never can remember my address.) What are the postal regs on size of print for labels? |

I don't know what the "official" answer is, but I do know that one of my loan payment books has lickable address labels in the back to use on the envelope to mail the payment in, and they aren't any bigger than a return address label. Of course they're also plain white and have no decoration of any kind that might be distracting to anyone who needs to read the address. Alternately, you could buy some blank address labels that are a little larger and just print your address on them. I buy Avery ones at WalMart and do that sometimes for bills I have to pay every month that don't send an envelope with the invoice. Having them on larger labels might be good, too, if your friend is elderly and can't see as well as they used to. |

Excellent point, Amy. I think I'll do just that. Thanks for your input. |

I've used them for years on Christmas cards. Just the plain small ones. They work fine. Edited to explain: Husband would set up the address forms where it would print a different address on each form. Last Edited on: 3/8/09 7:08 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

For the Post Office I think legible is more important than size. |

For only a few dollars you can have a custom stamp made with your name and address. |

I used to give a strip of the ones I get from charities to my nieces and nephews so they'd write to me. As long as they aren't too busy so that the machine readers get confused, I think they are perfectly fine. |
