I've been trying for a week or so to get a book; I've tried to order this book from 2 different people but after a week of waiting I cancel the order. I have now sent them a PM asking why they weren't accepting my order. No response. Im very sad by this because there is only 2 people on this site with this book as a paperback. I could just order the hardcover but its for a mass collection Im doing with an author and it would look kinda strange to have every book as a paperback and 1 as a hard cover. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do? Should I wait for another person to post this book or should I just forget about it all together?

Thanks for the advice; sorry if this topic doesn't belong here Im still learning the site.

Since the site goes by FIFO (First In, First Out) when you cancel and reorder your order is going back to the same person. You need to let the order time out naturally if the first person doesn't accept, then let it roll over to the next person in line.

But if theres only 2 people with the book wouldn't it just roll to the second person and then clear all together since theres no more out there?

Once you request the book, you shouldn't cancel it. The site will re-request the book after the allowed time for you.  The site gives a member 5 days to respond. If you cancel and re-request the book, you going to be requesting it from the very same person.  If you leave the request and the person doesn't respond, the book is removed from their list and your request will go on to the next person in line.

If it rolls through the 2nd person it'll go on your WL. The next copy to be posted to FIFO will be offered to you.

Letting books time out like that helps get the inactive accounts closed down,

I had a WL book offered to me on June 13 and since I'm the only one wishing for this book, I knew it had just been posted into the system.  The person who posted the book accepted, finally, this morning and this person has chosen the longest possible time in which to mail.  It's frustrating to have to wait so long, but at least I know the book will eventually make its way to me.  This doesn't happen often, at least not in my experience, but it's a good lesson in patience. :-)

Yeah you learn quickly that PBS is not the place if you need a book in hurry.  Sometimes it happens. But it's the one that you are really excited to get that times out or goes lost.
