Did anyone else see this in the news? Watts wrote The Rifters Trilogy and Blindsight. He was attempting to cross the border back into Canada when he questioned how and why his rental car was being searched. According to Watts, he was punched in the face, pepper-sprayed, handcuffed, and locked in a cell overnight until bond was posted. He was convicted of obstruction and resistence of a federal officer yesterday, and will be sentenced on April 26th. He could receive up to two years, but most likely a suspended sentence. The conviction could restrict his future travel to the U.S. I'm still trying to figure out why US Border and Customs people were inspecting a car going into Canada. That has not been my experience. You can Google his name for more details.
