In my family it seems we're always assauging someone's hurt feelings when naming pets.  So, our pets usually have a middle name.  Our first dog was Bubbles Shadow.  My brother (6 at the time) was fit to be tied because he wanted Shadow.  So, she got both names.

Sierra is Sierra Buttercup.  Why, you ask?  My niece was 8 at the time.  She went into tears when she heard we had named our dog by ourselves.  LOL  She wanted a dog named Buttercup!!!!!!  So, to make her feel better, Sierra became Sierra Buttercup.  Mind you, I would never name a dog Buttercup.  I cannot image saying "Come here, Buttercup"  LOL

Do any of your pets have middle names too?

That's a cute story!  Pepper's middle name depends on my mood.  When she's cute and good she's Pepper Belle, and when she's done something strange, she's Pepper Louise.

I dont know if I would call them middle names, but assuming we are not talking the long registered names:

Achielles was also called Bud.. Achielles Bud or Buddy would have had to be the middle/nick name. Why? Well because he really was everyones buddy :) Never met anyone who didn't like him. Definetly my once-in-a-lifetime dog. RIP

Axel is Axel Dude. He just has that macho attitude lol He gets all silly when we call him Dude though ;)

Breaca is Breaca Lee... So when we use her "full" name it's Broccoli... lol

Malfoy .. No real middle name yet.. but DH likes to call him "Malfoy Me-Boy"

Jinx... no middle name. So far though he has earned the little sh!t title in our house lol

Moxie ... still a baby. She'll have to show us her nickname/middle name as she grows up

Oh and I like Buttercup! The Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorite movies! What a cool name really! hmm can already see the registered name "(kennel name) As You Wish" call name "Buttercup" for a girl and "Wesley" for a boy... Great name really!

We tend to give our pets full names.

Fred (my avatar) was Frederick W. Cabbit - the w stood for "wyrm" which is what we called him when he was being destructive.  Cabbit was because he had long ears, especially when he was a kitten.  He was practically a pair of ears with a kitten attached to them.

Then there was the second cat, Furry Q. Kitten, called "The  Kitten" for his entire life, even when he was almost 20 years old.  Q. stood for cute, and we used it mostly to acknowledge that the cuteness factor had gone a little high in his name, but then he was extremely cute.

The current crew still only has a single name each, but they are starting to evolve more complicated names - Sage is becoming Sage Monster (he's a huge cat) and Curry is now Curry Kins.  So far, Apples is still just Apples though.

Two of my dogs have middle names. Eleusis Jane and Mushroom Wallace. I don't know why, exactly, they just happened. My old dog does not have a middle name, he's just Harvey. He doesn't have a formal name, either (Luce is ILP'd with the AKC so we can do dog sports, so she's got a "show" name, Siren's Eleusinian Mystery. Mushroom has one, too, though I never bothered to get his ILP. His is Siren's Shiitake Happens. Siren is the name of my first dog, an ancient miniature poodle who was 15 when I got her and lived with me for 18 months.)

My dogs all have weird long names - and we're not talking AKC either because only one of them is purebred!

My bulldog initially was named Suzy - which later turned into Snoozer T. Booples. I'm still not sure what the T. stands for.

My english shepherd mutt-dog is Lucy Lou Roo Shaggy Back Banana. (Came with the name Lucy, I added Lou Rou, my boyfriend's daughter added Shaggy Back Banana.)

My Irish Wolfhound mix is Rowan Ro-ro-riferous Nut-Smacker Hudson. (All I can say is that tail is deadly.)

Even our foster dog ended up with multiple names! Daisy turned into Miss Daisy which then turned to Miss Daisy Mae. If she stays with us any longer I'm sure the name will just keep growing!

mine have middle names..they're my kids! the lab is Kayla Marie and the german shepherd is Sasha Nikita...I just liked the name Kayla Marie and exbf got the german shepherd and named her Sasha..he had a thing for dictators and since she's female sasha is supposedly the name of stalin's daughter or something like that. I think Nikita was another russian guy..he said it was a man's name but sounded feminine enough to me!

I named my pit bull (the one that just passed away, Ophelia Michelle VanAusdall (our last name) . She was as black as coal & my husband named her Ophelia after a woman on tv? I don't watch tv , so I don't know which show. It was about 7 years ago as well, LOL. We called her Opie for short. I would get upset with her, just like I would my kids & Say OPHELIA MICHELLE! LOL! She knew she was in trouble, just like a kid, LOL. My other dogs don't have middle names. She was our best dog & we loved her so much. Our other female pit is Athena & the puppy is Spot. It's so funny, he is colored like a dalmation, but is full blood pit bull, LOL.  Athena was recently rescued from my alcoholic daughter. I let her take Athena with her when she got married two years ago. MISTAKE! Athena is also 7. She was a litter sister of Opie's. But they fought too much. So when Opie passed away, I waited about a week , then went & got Athena. She still remembers how to go outside to use the potty! My daghter had her on about a 1 foot long chain! OMG! But, thats over now & I told her she never has to leave here again:). She had a rope burn around her neck with a collar about 2 sizes too small. She was anorexic, but she is getting fatter now. :) All my kids are happy I got her home. No middle name yet.

I love dogs & animals , really more than most people. I am glad this forum is here.

 ~Peace~

 Shanna

My schnauzer Wally has a middle name, Dean.

When he is in trouble, he knows it because I am calling WALTER DEAN!

My pets only have one name, but their nicknames are long.  For instance, Mitzi is Itsy Bitsy Mitzi, Spooky is Spookywookysnookumsbaby, Sheba is Shebopapalula (or Her Highness the Queen, depending) and Buttons is Buttons!YouBadDog!   :-)
