I think Phelps has a winner this time in ~Love her to Death~ I've been hot and cold on his writing but this was very interesting book.  It is really a long book too.  I would have liked to see more pictures of Jan and Angie.  Hard to believe by the one picture of Angie that she was so fabulous.

i enjoyed that book also.Phelps either hits it or misses by a mile so to speak.I usually try to read his books since it can be very good but when there bad they are terrible.

I agree with both of you with regard to "hits and misses" from Phelps and that I liked this book.  There should have been more photo's of Jan and Angie and I also agree that she's nothing to go crazy over, but you know what they say:  "one man's feast, is another man's famine".....

I just finished it today and wasn't impressed at all. I got so bored with all the emails and phone calls that I lost interest quickly. It lacked a lot of substance.

I myself  have been waiting for a great TC to come out ,There are ones i like but ,I haven;t read anything for a long time as good as In Cold Blood and Helter Skelter, they were well written and kept you in it I also know people who hardly ever read TC have read these,I think the worst part anymore is lack of chacter development and dragging through the trials which for the most part is very boring it rehashes what we already know,Now helter Skelter you need the Court included because it was as bizarre as the crime.

I have read quite a few reviews and many say the same thing as Sleepy -- too many emails and phone calls.  I admit I didn't care for it either, but since the family of Roseboro didn't want to talk about him, Phelps might have thought this was the only way to give the reader insight on what a nut he was.  But that's just my guess.  I thought the story was interesting and like Heather, I too am waiting for that "Helter Skelter" book.  Maybe because that crime was so over the top crazy we won't really get a book that good again.  But I remember reading "High Hopes" the true story of the Amityville Killer and I couldn't put it down.  Same goes for the book about Jon Benet Ramsey by Steve Thomas.  Those are the kinds of books I love, just can't put em' down.
