reviewed Phineas Gage: A Gruesome but True Story about Brain Science on
I ordered this book to add to my classroom library. As a sixth grade science teacher I teach about the nervous system. The book not only puts a human story to what can happen when there is a brain injury, but is also laced with information about how the brain works. It tells the story of how research and study of the brain has changed over the years, giving students a feel for how scientists' work has influenced our current understanding. It is a very readable book, including many photos and drawings; one that students will find interesting to pick up.
