I believe the Book Bazaar is for browsing for books you usually don't consider
and trying new authors, topics, and genres.

The library near me has a continuous sale of "$1 a Bag" (that's a paper grocery bag).
Several times I've gotten a full bag with 3 or 4 books for me and the rest to put on PBS to get more credits.

             I just had a brainstorm!!
Why don't I get books people want?

Here's the opportunity.

  • You tell me the genre and possible authors you want.
  • I'll try to fill your order.
  • If I do I'll trade 3 books for one credit - SUCH A DEAL!!
  • Because it's the library, I can get almost any genre or topic you want.

Here's an example ~ You want:

  1. Science Fiction but not Fantasy (Star Trek, Poul Anderson, Robert Silverberg, or any dealing with Future or Alternate Earth.)
  2. Mystery, Suspense and Thriller (prefer books similar to Cliive Cussler, Tom Clancy, Dale Brown, etc.)
  3. Historical Fiction (especially sea and land battles set in 1600 to 1800s)
  4. You don't want (be somewhat specific here)
  5. DO NOT list specific titles or authors you already have a lot of. I can't fill holes in your collection.
  6. DO NOT put books on your wishlist for me to find. If I post them, they'll go to someone else anyway.
  7. Be willing to accept hard back or paper back, which ever i can get.

I'll get more than you want so you can try to select some you could use. I'll send you a list BEFORE they're posted so you can tell me which ones you will order and which ones you want as the extras. You'll put ther ISBN on your wishlist. That way when I post them you'll gete a hold on them immediately.

To make this worthwhile i'll need several people on this. That way I can try to fill a bag for multiple people at one time.

                          Any questions - PM me.

This is the response to a question sent to me. Other's may gain from the answer.

I know just how your mother feels. I've had a couple of Uncle John's Readers over the years and thoroughly enjoyed them. In fact, my 98 year-old mother still has one in her guest bathroom that everyone enjoys during those brief opportunities to stop and relax.

Unfortunately, I've never seen one at the library. They actually have about 2,000+ books with about 1/2 of them fiction and the rest as informational (cookbooks, how-to, etc.), technical, and social topics.

As I said in the original post, it would be extremely rare to find a specific title out of the hundreds of thousands of books available each year. I'll keep they type of book in mind for you the next time I get to the library.

I have three members with their lists in hand. Who else wants me to hunt for books for them?

Send me your genre choices and maybe a long list of authors. NO TITLE REQUESTS PLEASE.

I like spiderwick both series

Rick Riordan any kids series

Meadows (little house on the prarie Rocky Ridge, several Caroline books, Rose years )

Magic Tree House

I really don't like withdrawn library books. I hope this is acceptable to you. Hard to think of any books right off the top of my head. lol
