Sequel to the Peretti classic "This Present Darkness," this book not only continues the series, but continues to challenge the reader to enlarge their view of spiritual warfare. Hard to put down, a very well written novel.

I love this book. The description of the angels and their personality, and how they interact with the demons was really good. It was neat how their actions affected the humans involved.

The second in the series by Peretti and again, the book was exciting but also challenging and perception changing. No pun but this book is a real eye opener.

A Christian School, a tiny farming community and a young lady found theirself caught in the middle of some bizarre event, fleeing for her life while trying to recall her dark past. This is an exciting fictional portrayal of a person's journey in our times confronting the enemy of darkness.

Second of 2 based on the same small town and the struggle between good and evil, angels and demons. Better if you have read This Present Darkness first.

From the back: An attempted murder, a case of mistaken - or is it covered-up? - identity, and a ruthless lawsuit against a struggling Christian school. Across a vast panorama of heart-stopping action, Sally Roe's journey is a penetrating portrayal of our times, a reflection of our wanderings, and a vivid reminder of the redemptive power of the Cross.

Frank Peretti has done it again...making you wonder was it really fiction or was it truth?! The battles Tal and his Angelic forces encounter against the Strongman and his demons for humans is projected in such a real setting that you feel like you are there. You feel each swing of their swords and cheer each puff of red smoke!

It all begins in Bacon's Corner, a tiny farming community far from the interstate...An attempted murder, a case of mistaken - or is it covered-up? - identity, and a ruthless lawsuit against a struggling Christian school. Sally Beth Roe, a young loner, a burn-out, a kind of "leftover hippie," finds herself caught in the middle of these bizarre events, fleeing for her life while trying to recall her dark past.

Peretti at his best!

Leaders in the realm of darkness have mounted a new attack that will create chaos and cause defeat in the human beings who claim unity with their enemy, Christ.
Readers will find themselves rooting for a most unlikely hero as her quest for inner peace exposes the most frightening war of all, the battle for the human soul. Be captivated anew as you enter the world of battling angels and demons that author Frank Peretti so masterfully uncovered in This Present Darkness.

Sequel to Peretti's This Present Darkness. Further fights for the souls of men as dark forces attempt to bring about the Apocalypse. Characterizations of angels is interesting, althought not necessarily Biblical.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:5 (ESV)

It all begins in Bacons corner, a tiny farming community far from the interstate. An attempted murder, a suspicious case of mistaken identity, and a ruthless lawsuit against a struggling Christian school threaten the peace of the small town. Sally Beth Roe, a young loner, finds herself in the middle of events beyond her control, fleeing for her life while trying to recall her dark past. She doesnt realize that a demonic army is growing in power and that a spiritual battle is rapidly approaching.

This book brings out the whole Spritual realm to the point that you see it in your mind, therefore, making you extremely mindful of that world. This was the third of Peretti's books that I read, the first was The Oath. I was so hooked with the Oath that I was hooked by the writer. My purchase of this book is still in my library some 15yrs ago. I love this book. My second book was This Present Darkness (read review). All 3 of them.

I'm reviewing this old one because it's the one I own. This is a fantastic book. Doesn't matter if you're Christian or not, although coming from someone with a religious background I might be a bit biased. He's a damn good writer. I have read this book several times because each time I read it I remember something I forgot, or find something else that speaks to me. It has lots of action for that action-loving fiend in me. But it also has actual development of characters. You get to watch as these people transform. And from what I remember (bc I read it years ago now), the reader gets to follow a couple of characters. If you're a Christian it's simply a sin you haven't picked it up. If not, give it a try and tell me if a non-Christian can enjoy something like this. Honestly, he's just a great writer.

This book is one of the best by the author. It talks about good and evil battling
it out over the human race.

I must say I was looking for this sequel to have a little more depth than the first book. Sadly though the book was directed mainly towards spiritual warfare, and the prevalence of evil. I felt it geared more towards trying to paint a picture of demonic evil and in doing so, the story plot was over done and a bit dry at times. It ended well, though could have used a better ending. I did enjot the book but the first one was my favorite.

Sequel to "This Present Darkness". A frightening war with angels and demons over the human soul. Very good read, Frank Peretti will keep you on the edge of your seat, you will not want to put this one down. DG

From the back cover...
Destroyer had heard of the Captain of the angelic host, and knew of the humiliation at Ashton. But this time it would be different - this time they would be ready. They would strike where they coould do most damage; and the unity of those who claimed allegiance to the angels'cause.

It was an ambitious Plan, yet victory was certain once they had dealt with the that one pathetic mortal - Sally Roe. But Sally was proving elusive. Tired by years of spiritual deception, she was in search of something lost since childhood. Was it a dream, or could she really escape the futility, the despair, and that new sensation -guilt?

Like a living parable of modern humanity's search for meaning, Sally Roe's quest for inner peace exposes the most frightening war of all: the battle for the human soul.
