Unlike Kosinski's vignette style novels, this continuous storyline weaves itself thru 1980's pop culture and society making it somewhat dated. Musical history lessons are used seemingly as filler which distract attention away from the plot. Though you want to know what happens next, Pinball isn't the most effective Kosinski book.
