I just received a book in the mail that had a couple of light pink smudges on the outside of the pages on the top and right side. They are only visible when the book is closed, they are not on the pages themselves. I know that those big black remainder marks are allowed so I am guessing this is postable. I tried to lightly erase it but I was starting to smush the top of the pages a little bit ( I swear they make these new books out of tissue paper), so I stopped and left it alone.

Do you think I can repost it? It is definitely not a food stain or any sort of stain really, just a smudge. It has 13 wishers so I know I can request a credit for it in BB, but I'm kind of lazy. I love being able to go to the Books on Hold portion of my bookshelf and just press the "post this book" button when I finish a book.

Sounds like it's postable to me!

I think it's postable.    I wouldn't consider that a stain.   Sounds as if it is there as part of the printing process for whatever reason.

I second the sanding suggestion. It works for me when there are light marks or smudges on the edges of pages.

Just pinch the pages together tightly with one hand and sand with the other. I tested my technique first on an unpostable. For the most part, you really can't even tell its been done when you are finished.

I got sandpaper from the 99 cent store, on a packing-tape buying trip.

I posted two books (to the same requester) like this and got a RWAP.  She PMed me about it and I told her I didn't feel like it was any different than remainder marks but it was never marked resolved.  Guess it depends on how "picky" the requester is in the end.

I would post it and when it gets accepted PM the member to see if they are ok with it. I have had similar situations that were like this and in every case the receiver was happy to get the book with no complaints.
