Mysterious masked man - legendary pirate called the Beggar King??? In truth he was a renegade nobelman, Lord Howard, who had landed his vessel off the lonely English seashore.
Rozalinde, mathematician, navigator and independent daughter of England's richest merchant, was taking a moonlit walk along the shore when she was swept into the pirate king's arms. Carried aboard his ship, she entered his storm-tossed world and became intimate with his troubled soul.
Their passion caught fire - but could it burn away the evil shrouding Christopher's secret past and hidden agenda? Did he truly want Rozalinde to be his lover, his confidante, his equal, his life? Or was he still a rogue leading her into temptation, heartbreak, and deadly danger to them both..l??

I liked the way this woman was appreciated for her independence of men, and loved for it also. This book is set in the 1500s. The heroine is the daughter of an ailing sea merchant who must fight to save her father's company.
