Although this book is somewhat dated, the historical content more than makes up. The author presents quite a comprehensive survey of the major (and some of the minor) plaques that have caused so much disease and death to mankind since the dawn of time. The book is well written and not so technical that someone of a non-medical or scientific background cannot read with interest and understanding.
