I've received a few books that were enclosed in a plastic that's white on one side, gray on the other.  It looks like a great way to package books.  Does anyone know where to get it?

Thanks!

Hi Sharon--

I use poly bags which are grey inside and lighter grey outside.  I don't know if they're the ones you're thinking of, but they were recommended to me by another PBS member, so I know several of us use them.  They are very convenient, and protect well when sealed properly -- I've never (knock on wood) had anyone mark a book RWP, and I've sent about 450 out with these polybags.

I get them on eBay, from a vendor recommended by the PBS member: http://stores.ebay.com/VALUEMAILERS_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZQ2d33QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Don't be afraid to PM whomever sent your book and say "great packaging -- where do you get it?" -- that's how I found out :-)

Cheers,

Catt

I now use them because the Tyvek got too expensive.  They are very inexpensive. My only concern is that if the package ever came into contact with a sharp edge - it would get sliced open with no trouble.  I got the 7.5 inch ones because those can fit both the mass market paperbacks and the trade paperback books.  I just make sure to tape up all the loose flaps tight to the package so  it won't get caught in the USPS machinery!

They are called polymailers - I get them from an online sewing coop.

Cheaper than envalopes for me at the coop prices, and much much more sturdy. I've yet to ever have a problem since I switched to them.
