If ever there is a book which warrants more attention, it is "Platero and I." Juan Ramon Jimenez, a deceased poet, wrote, as honestly as one can imagine, of a poet's relationship with his donkey in a small town of Spain. His language is miraculous and exhilarating. I can't think of any other book that more eloquently captures the true experience of innocence. This book shimmers with beauty and may be one of the greatest ever written.
