Has anyone used the new Playaways? I borrowed one from the library and it quit about half way through the book. It was not the battery, I even tried a new battery. Just wondered if this was a fluke or if others have had problems with them.

Thanks for the feedback Linda. Perhaps the one I borrowed from the library was a "lemon".

Another problem with the Playaways! The sound quality is so poor (way too much static and low level crackling). I have good hearing and the background noise is annoying. I have tried every setting on the EQ and SP buttons.

We tried to listen to one through our car audio (new car/great audio system) and same problem.

Anyone else notice this?

I have only borrowed 2 so far from our library and I had no problem with the player but I do agree the sound quality is not as good as downloads to my zen.
