Sherrilyn Kenyon's "Turn Up The Heat" is every woman's fantasy. Unlike most of Sherrilyn Kenyon's other novels, this story is about a young woman from a poor background working at walmart. Allison is not your everyday type of girl that she thinks she is. Meeting an old friend brings her an opportunity of a lifetime with the encouragement to go for it. Little does Allison know what is about to take place. Sherrilyn Kenyon brings to life the raw male masterpieces, tropical paradise and enough action to make even the sainted of us envy. The author has really Turned Up The Heat in this novella.
Jaid Black's "Hunter's Oath" is a nice concept of the Viking race. The idea of bride hunters was a little barbaric but actually fits with the overall theme here. Jaid Black has brought us a slice of heaven with this novella. Kidnapped, held captive, sold like the common slave to these Barbarians is enough to make the strongest of women weep. Sofia brings us a character going through the turmoil of everyday life and thrown into situtation that no one would ever consider happening. Drugged to the point of extreme discomfort, Sofia's Barbarian turns out to be a angel in disquise. The amount of changing emotions in this story keeps the reader from putting the book down. It's a story that must be read from beginning to end without interuption.
Kresley Cole's "The Warlord Wants Forever" took me by surprise compared to the other novella's in this book. Two immortal races, immortal enemies are caught in a web of fate that baffles all involved. The main characters are strong, erotic, spiteful and demanding. The sexual attraction is raw while the actual acts are pure carnel hunger. I must say that the story line didn't really make itself visable until two thirds through the novella. Once the actual plot was discovered it was quite enjoyable and explained the beginning of the story.
Overall the book was quite enjoyable but like most anthologies, you read, weep, laugh, drool and then go onto the next.

The first story, by Sherrilyn Kenyon, was "meh". It had one steamy scene, and the rest was pretty much just silliness.

This was the prequel to her IAD series, which tells the vampire Nickolai Wroth and the Valkyrie Myst's story, which is alluded to in A Hunger Like No Other, Bk. 1 in the IAD series. It was nice to go back and read their story. I have yet to read a book by this author that I haven't liked. Her stories are fun, steamy, and different. This story is what makes this book worthwhile.

Sherrilyn Kenyon's "Turn up the Heat" is one fun read. Allison spends her days cleaning up aisle "whatever" in her local Wal-Mart. When her friend suggests that she should enter a contest where the winner can live out her favorite romance novel she at first scoffs...ya like she's ever going to win anything. But, she does and the second she sets eyes on Vince...she knows her life will never be the same. Vince is on the run from "the family" they want him dead, and he's rather attached to the concept of living to see another day. So when his best friend from childhood saves his bacon and finds him a safe place to hide out he's all for it...that is until he sees Allison getting off the plane. Now staying one step ahead of the bad guys is not his only priority. Now he has to keep a lid on his lust. Will he be able to do this or will this bad boy finally give in?

I liked Sherrilyn Kenyon and I loved Kresley Cole the best. If it wasn't for those two stories I would have thrown this book away because I absolutely hated the Jaid Black story. Kidnapped, drugged, and sold to the highest bidder, not to mention rape. Were was the romance to this story???

Three short stories together in this anthology of sexy heroines who are not particularly coy in the bedroom.
Kresley Cole's story, The Warlord Wants Forever is by far the best of the trio and, thankfully, the longest. She uses this short story to introduce us to her Immortals After Dark series and if you haven't read any yet, this is a fine, although condensed, introduction to these great books. If you've already read any books in the IAD series, this one is a can't miss and gives the backstory of Myst and Nickolai. True this isn't as deep as her other works, but she doesn't disappoint.

This is a keeper anthology for me because of Kresley Cole's "The Warlord Wants Forever". It is one of the first parnormal romances I ever read and it got me hooked on Cole's Immortals After Dark series. The story has a complex world building that is handled expertly by Cole. I was able to understand the roles and care about the characters. Jaid Black's Hunter's Oath was another of her underworld viking tales; I enjoyed it but not as much as her full length viking novel. Black's stories are not for the faint hearted. She pens extreme situations with extreme language coupled with humor.
I was not able to finish Sherrily Kenyon's "Turn up the Heat". Just did not hold my interest, maybe because I had not read any other stories in her series.

Got this book specifically for Kresley Cole's story, and have yet to read the other two in it. But I loved Nikolai's & Myst's story. Although it was short, it still held my attention and I loved knowing Myst's back story, since she is does pop up in both A Hunger Like No Other & No Rest for the Wicked briefly.

I liked the Kresley Cole book . . . all her books work together, you can read them alone, but reading them all adds another dimension as what happens in one often provides depth to comments that are made in another.
The other two stories I did not care for at all. They were very shallow, and the characters did nothing for me. The Jaid Black was particularily bad--did not inspire me to read anything more from her. These two stories REALLY pulled down the star rating, as they added to the price of the book . . . yet added nothing I'd every read again, or recommend to anyone else.

Love, love, love the Immortals After Dark Series by Kresley Cole! Just fantastic and well-written, sexy and entertaining. The Warlord Wants Forever is actually one of my favorites in the series, and is the first!

I'm totally biased when it comes to Sherrilyn Kenyon because I really like her stuff. I thought this one was fun. I think she has done one more fantasy story before and this one is just different enough. Allison reminds me a little bit of Bride in Kenyon's Hunter series but I really liked her. Vinnie was okay but the coolest thing was Kenyon gave a little bit more background on Joe from the BAD series.
I'm conflicted with Black's story. This is the first time I've read her and the story had potential. I think if she left out the spanish fly drug and just have Johen win her with how sweet he was, it would have been a better story. That way it doesn't reek of rape so much. Also, Sofia was too weak of a character. I would have liked her to fight against being a captive a little bit more. She just basically laid down and took it. Especially when Black made a point that she was supposed to be feisty but her actions were complete opposite of that. Very disappointing but I am intrigue to see if Black's novels would be better. It's hard to justify kidnapping and rape though.
I've actually haven't read Cole before but have been meaning to. I was very impressed with the story. Great dialogue and just lots of action and fun with a good plot. I'll definitely look for her novels.

Turn Up the Heat - Sherrilyn Kenyon - 3 1/2 Stars - This was a good quickie read. The action was pretty good but there was a lack of steam.
Hunter's Oath - Jaid Black - 3 1/4 Stars - I'm not too cool with the whole stealing women and selling them off thing, but once I got passed that I did like the story. Johen was a very sweet man and took care of his wife well and it's easy to see how Sofia could fall for him. I will definitely continue this series if I come across more of these books.

This book is only good for Kresley Coles's story. Its the Prequel to the Immortals After Dark Series. Good short story. Cole is an amazing writer.

I love Kresley Cole. Her story was the best. Her story start her Immortals After Dark series. Well the timing is almost parallel to her Hunger Like No Other book. Classic Jaid Black. Enough said. Sherrilyn Kenyon was a modern romance that was very good. All three are on my list of favorite authors.

I really enjoyed all three stories in this anthology.... which is a very rare thing. This book has a story from Sherrilyn Kenyon's BAD series, a story about Jaid Black's underground vikings and the first story in Kresley Cole's Immortals after Dark series.

I got this book because I'm a fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon, but her story was the one I liked least. I find that while I'm a huge fan of her Dark Hunter series, the BAD series isn't to my taste. I really enjoyed the Kresley Cole story and will be looking for more from her. I also liked the Jaid Black story.

3 great stories. 1st 2 are very short & the 3rd longer. 1st by Kenyon is about a girl who wins her fantasy & while there runs into a former mafia hit man. 2nd by Black is from her series about a viking lord living below the surface who goes to the bride auction expecting to stop any problems and finds himself bidding and winning the latest addition, a beautiful red head who has just lost the last of her family. Can she find a new one with this Lord from below? 3rd by Cole is from her Valkrie series-this is Myst the Coveted and Nikoli Wroths story. All very good.
This book worth it for Kresley Cole's first installment of her Immortals After Dark series. Jaid Black's story about a woman who is kidnapped and taken into an underworld beneath the earth to be forced into marriage is a nice read, though nothing awesome. Sherrilyn Kenyon's novella wasn't much---story was weak.
