. . . so I created a list I'd love for anyone on this board to partake in! Jo Walton has a series of alphabetical posts on Tor.com wherein she lists the authors on her bookshelves and where she thinks you should start with their work; I did the same, narrowing my focus to fantasy. I made it an open list, so any authors I've left off (for instance, C.J. Cherryh, because I've only read her SF) you guys should feel free to add (as long as you select the book you think is the best starting place!) and if you disagree with my choices you should post a comment to try and change my mind (you can also put in your selection, but please don't delete mine!). The list is here: http://www.paperbackswap.com/lists/list_details.php?lid=579

Still playing around I made a new list -- one that includes all the titles in Gollancz's Fantasy Masterworks line. I've input all the titles so far published in the line (through 2010) so PLEASE do not add any titles, as I can't figure out a way for me to remove ones that another member adds incorrectly! But please do vote for your favorites, and feel free to discuss any titles left off in the comments section! The list is here: http://www.paperbackswap.com/Gollancz-Fantasy-Masterworks/list/1420/
